Our History

2009

We introduced the “Fiber to the Home” solution, providing high-quality IPTV, ultra-fast Internet, and digital telephony.

2010

We secured a stable position in the fixed Internet market and became Armenia’s largest wholesale operator thanks to our own fiber-optic route connecting Armenia to Georgia.

2011

We began supplying transit Internet to the Middle East, which highlights the strategic importance of Armenia's telecommunications sector in the region.

2013

We have received a license to provide mobile communication services from the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia (PSRC).

2015

We acquired 100% ownership of Orange Armenia, thereby entering the Armenian mobile communications market. Orange Armenia, previously owned by the French Orange Group (formerly France Telecom), has been providing mobile services in Armenia since 2009, operating as the third mobile operator after ArmenTel and VivaCell-MTS.

2016

We launched Armenia’s fastest 4G+ network nationwide, meeting top international standards. We also enhanced our converged service offering with the “4-in-1” package, combining IPTV, fixed and mobile telephony, and Internet.

2016-2017

As a part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, we actively contributed to the development of the ICT sector by implementing several programs, especially at the intersection of education and technology.
Thanks to Ucom’s support, modern computer and engineering labs were established in schools across Armenia, providing students with new opportunities.

2017

We received the “Fastest Mobile Internet in Armenia” award from Speedtest by Ookla.

2018

We focused on expanding HD-quality TV content and launched the innovative uKid and uFleet projects, while continuing CSR programs related to engineering education.

2019

We introduced the uCloud portal and the uDoctor app. We issued USD- and AMD-denominated bonds with annual interest rates of 7.5% and 11%, listed on the AMX stock exchange.
We became the first in the region to launch eSIM technology and served as the technical sponsor of WCIT 2019.

2020

During the COVID-19 pandemic we ensured uninterrupted access to remote learning for our subscribers by waiving Internet fees for numerous educational websites.
During this time -  and throughout the 44-day war - we took full responsibility for ensuring communication services, providing reliable and accessible connectivity to the population of Artsakh, even under the most difficult circumstances.

2021

We tested a 1 Gbps network and also partnered with the National Olympic Committee of Armenia.

We successfully ensured the implementation of all technical processes related to the parliamentary elections.

We received the "Fastest Fixed Network in Armenia 2021" award from Ookla and launched the Unity converged offer, which combines mobile and fixed services on a single platform.

 

2022

We opened our call center in Vanadzor, provided subscribers with the latest Wi-Fi 6 devices, supported numerous sports, educational, and tech events as a technical partner, and received Ookla’s “Fastest Fixed Network in Armenia 2022” and “Fastest Mobile Network in Armenia 2022” awards.

2023

We defined a new strategy, under which we launched active efforts to expand, modernize, and upgrade both fixed and mobile networks.
We obtained ISO 9001 certification for our management system and ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information security compliance.

2024

We led a major breakthrough in Armenia’s digital future by launching the country’s largest 5G network. Within just a year, it reached 28 regional cities, delivering next-generation connectivity.

We continued to upgrade and expand our 4G+ and fixed networks. As part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, we partnered with the Sunchild NGO to install solar panels on public buildings in border communities. Additionally, we launched a new incubation program for green tech startups in collaboration with Impact Hub.

 

2025

We introduced Uplay — a modern, innovative TV and media platform that allows users to enjoy their favorite movies, series, and shows in top quality.

We launched the 5G network in Yerevan and continued its rollout across 37 cities and regions of Armenia.
